Practice

Federal Court Practice

Mr. Gibbons regularly practices in Federal Courts in Ohio and other states. He defends all forms of white collar crime such as security fraud, bankruptcy fraud, child pornography charges, drug and weapons charges and all other Federal criminal charges. He is an expert in Federal Criminal Law and Procedure and in the application of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. He has successfully defended countless clients in Jury trials in District Court.

State Court Practice

In his State practice he provides defense to clients charged with criminal offenses such as sexual assault, theft and drug cases. He has successfully defended numerous clients charged with capital offenses in Ohio State Courts.

Municipal Court Practice

Mr. Gibbons regularly travels to all Municipal Courts in Northeast Ohio to defend clients charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under suspension, domestic violence charges and all traffic offenses.

Federal and State Court Appeals

Mr. Gibbons regularly pursues appeals in Federal and State Appellate Courts, to include the Ohio Supreme Court. He regularly defends death row prisoners in Habeas Corpus proceedings in Federal Court. He is an expert in the Federal and Ohio Rules of Evidence, the Rules of Criminal Procedure and the Laws of Search and Seizure.


Representation of Witnesses Before State and Federal Grand Juries

Mr. Gibbons regularly represents the targets or subjects of Grand Jury investigations in both State and Federal Courts.  Mr. Gibbons represents witnesses who are called to appear before State or Federal Grand Juries.

Access to Expert Assistance

Because of his extensive background in the prosecution and defense of criminal cases, Gibbons calls on a wide array of the most reputable expert witnesses in the defense of his clients’ criminal cases. These experts include: defense pathologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, mitigation experts, polygraph operators, ballistics and firearm experts, D.N.A. scientists, Forensic Accountants and Digital Forensic Analysts. He regularly employs a wide array of defense investigators, including retired FBI Special Agents and Police Officers.
